Celebrated war photographer Don McCullin has been in northern Iraq for the last several weeks on assignment for Harper’s Magazine. McCullin, considered by many to be one of the most important photographers of the Vietnam era, hasn’t shot in a war zone since the first Gulf War. Unlike most of today’s photojournalists, McCullin is shooting black-and-white film. "He’s doing it the old-fashioned way," says Jeffrey Smith of Contact Press Images, McCullin’s agency. "He’s not even transmitting digitally. He’s coming out with the story."
